Teaching is a noble profession and teachers are seen as the noblest and respected persons on the face of this earth. Early education is provided at home by our parents, especially mothers. They teach us the basics of life and the basic etiquettes that are important for day to day activities. They help us understand the meaning of life and the basics governing the structure of life. But as soon as a child gets to the age of 2 or 3, he/she is admitted to a school and he is then left under the guidance of teachers.
Teachers serve as a medium between education and the education seeker. They are a bridge that connects the students with an altogether new world. They transfer their skills and experiences to next generation who is seeking the knowledge.
The selection of teachers to be admitted in schools is very crucial. The quality of education is judged by the quality of education provider. Everybody can read a book and understand something out of it. But the role of a good teacher is not just explaining what is written in the book. The role is far beyond that. A teacher adds his own understanding and comprehension to the written text. He explains it with a perspective that is neutral and evokes a discerning ability in humans.
Teachers also incorporate their personal experiences while teaching. As they have a varied and wide experience of life, they give us insight on matters as they have seen in life and they teach us lessons from the life stories of real humans.
In order to elevate the standard of an institute and improve the quality of education provided in there, the quality of teachers is very important. If teachers are inducted by screening them through stringent criteria, then it can deem fruitful results. Selection of teachers should be on merit basis. Their qualification, their teaching style, their understanding of life, their ability to interact with others, their strength to develop an open learning environment in class and their ability to judge and guide students are some of the factors that should be well evaluated before employing them in any institute. Moreover, institutes can also incorporate the criteria that are set by accreditation agencies for selecting teachers.
In a nutshell, the quality of education is determined by the quality of teachers. If the knowledge provider is knowledgeable and experienced, then it would bring about manifold positive impacts on the knowledge seeker too.
